SedNet establishes contact with EurAqua |
|
EurAqua (www.euraqua.org) is a European network of Freshwater Research Organisations. The aim of this network is to contribute to the development of European freshwater science and its dissemination on a European scale. Thus it has a significant input on the development of the scientific basis of European water management. The EurAqua Partner institutions are leading, generally governmental, freshwater research institutions in the Member States of the European Union plus Norway and Switzerland.
At the moment EurAqua has 20 partner institutes and 1 observer member. The German Federal Institute of Hydrology (BfG) and the Institute for Inland Water Management and Waste Water Treatment in the Netherlands (RIZA) both actively contribute to SedNet and EurAqua. On the initiative of the BfG the SedNet issue will be a topic on the Agenda of the next EurAqua meeting at Budapest in April 2006. The possible co-operation between the two networks, SedNet and EurAqua, could substantially support a comprehensive European water policy, which puts forward the idea of a sustainable sediment management at river basin scale.
